The Counselor in Training Program is designed for teenagers aged 13 to 15 years old to start taking on job-like responsibilities. CITs will be tasked with assignments from Site Leaders to assist the Summer Camp Counselors daily functions. These responsibilities may include setting up or cleaning up equipment after an activity, count and record equipment inventory, organize storage room area, offer support and guidance to younger campers, etc. CITs will never be solely responsible for overseeing a camper or group of campers. They are simply there to lend a helping hand to counselors when requested. CITs are permitted (and encouraged) to participate in the camper activities. That being said, CITs should acknowledge that they may be bigger, stronger, and more mentally mature than the campers in their group and should be respectful and mindful when participating with them in activities. This program is not a paid job or an official volunteer position, therefore, CITs are not expected to attend every day or camp M-F (9:00am-3:00pm) if their schedule does not permit. We just ask that they inform a Site Leader, as they would if it were a real job or volunteer commitment.
